How the stacking math works

Total Battle resolves the first three rounds of combat deterministically: one side is chosen at random to strike first, then the two alternate for rounds 2 and 3. If you pile everything into one huge squad of your strongest unit and the enemy strikes first, that whole squad can die before it ever attacks.

Splitting the same army into balanced stacks fixes this. Each stack carries roughly equal HP, so they fall together, reward variance drops, and net income rises. Late game it goes further: double-damage and double-attack procs compound across more independent squads, so stacked armies outright outperform un-stacked ones.

This tool does that sizing for you. It targets equal HP per stack across your Leadership, Authority, and Dominance housing caps, and can bias your highest tiers to die last (Elite Preservation), so you lose cheap units before expensive ones.
